Each Union Parishad consists of 1 (one) Chairman and 12 (twelve) members, out of which 9 (nine) members are general constituencies and 3 (three) members are reserved women constituencies.The chairman and general seat members are elected by direct vote.Every Union Parishad has three seats reserved for women only which are called reserved seats and the members of these reserved seats are also elected by direct vote.
Women candidates also participated directly in the member elections of nine general constituencies. The Chairman of the Union Parishad is deemed to be a member of the Council. The chairman and members get the honorarium fixed by the government. The names of the chairman and members are notified in the official gazette.
